Dykeheads Farm

Why Choose Dykeheads Farm?

Exceptional Comfort and Modern Amenities

Both properties have been fully renovated, offering stylish interiors, modern kitchens, and luxurious shower rooms. With central heating and multi-fuel stoves in each property, you’ll feel cozy and comfortable whatever the season.

Reliable High-Speed WiFi
Stay connected with resilient, satellite-based high-speed broadband, with excellent Ubiquiti WiFi coverage throughout The Farmhouse and The Smithy, even in this remote location. This allows for the family to be streaming their favourite TV shows whilst simultaneously you are catching up on video calls for work should that be necessary.
Spectacular Views

Almost every room boasts panoramic views over the property’s fields and miles down the Nent Valley towards the Cumbrian fells. Whether it’s sunrise or sunset, the scenery is truly unforgettable.

If you book the Farmhouse, then you also have access to the hot tub house in a garden cabin, with sliding glazed windows facing west. Enjoy watching the sun go down over the hills as you relax with a drink amongst the bubbles.

Dark Skies for Stargazing
As part of a designated Dark Sky area, Dykeheads Farm is a haven for stargazers. On clear nights, the star-filled skies above are nothing short of magical. For your careful enjoyment, The Farmhouse has a Skywatcher 200P Dobsonian Telescope, and The Smithy has a pair of Celestron 20×80 Skymaster binoculars. Further afield, you may want to visit Grassholme Observatory in Teesdale, or the Alston Moor Observatory outside Alston.
A Walkers’ Paradise

With direct access to miles of scenic trails, Dykeheads Farm is the perfect base for exploring the unspoiled beauty of the North Pennines. Simply walking from the front door, there is something for everyone – from a 15 minute gentle stroll into Nenthead village to a more challenging hike.

*Accessibility: The Rabbit Room and its shower-room are on a level with the dining room and living room, all of which can be accessed via patio doors to the rear of the property. However, this level is a 10cm step down from the kitchen and utility room. The shower-room is a wheelchair-accessible wet-room.

Dykeheads Farm is in a beautiful part of the UK countryside, and is at a height of 475m (1560ft) above sea level within the North Pennines AONB. This guarantees a place to escape the busyness of life, with clean air and the backdrop of rural life. However, please also note that the wind can blow and it can be cold, so do pack warm clothes for walks! Nenthead village is renowned for its community-run snowplough and gritting service, which is effective at keeping the road to the property open and gritted on those occasions in winter when snow falls. Some roads in the area can be affected by wintry weather so please be aware of this when making bookings for the winter months.
